Autonomous agents in companies are changing the way organizations work, make decisions and multiply their work capacity. We are no longer talking about basic automation, but rather about systems capable of acting with a certain degree of independence.

In this context, many SMEs and team leaders are wondering what the real impact of these technologies will be. They also want to know how to apply them without taking unnecessary risks.

Throughout this article, we analyze their evolution, their real advantages and how to start integrating them strategically.

What are autonomous agents?

An autonomous agent is a system that executes tasks without constant intervention. Unlike a traditional automation, it can make decisions based on data, context and defined objectives.

For example, a classic system can send automatic mailings. However, an autonomous agent can decide when to send them, to whom and with what content.

This change is key. In fact, it means moving from executing orders to managing entire processes.

These agents can be integrated with existing tools such as CRMs, ERPs or analysis platforms. Therefore, they do not require replacing the entire current system.

How autonomous agents are evolving in the enterprise

The evolution of self-employed agents follows a clear trend towards specialization and autonomy.

In the first phase, companies use simple automations. Then, they incorporate systems with more complex rules. Finally, they adopt agents capable of learning and optimizing results.

This process does not happen all at once. Rather, it is implemented gradually as the business is ready to adopt new tools.

This progress is not happening in isolation. It is directly driven by the development of artificial intelligence, which enables these systems to analyze data, adapt and make decisions more accurately. In fact, recent studies by Gartner studies highlight that intelligent automation will be one of the main drivers of business efficiency over the next few years.

Real day-to-day applications

Autonomous agents already have practical applications in many areas. Far from being a technology of the future, we are facing a present reality.

In operations, they can manage inventories dynamically. They analyze demand and adjust orders automatically.

In marketingthey optimize campaigns in real time. They adjust budgets, segmentation and messages according to performance.

In customer service, they go beyond chatbots. They understand context, prioritize incidents and escalate complex problems.

They also excel at internal management. For example, they can coordinate tasks between teams without the need for constant supervision.

Automation of complex administrative processes

Continuous optimization of campaigns and sales

Intelligent resource and time management

These applications show a clear pattern: reduce repetitive tasks and improve decision making.

Strategic advantages for SMEs and teams

Adopting autonomous agents is not just about incorporating a new technology. It actually involves changing the way the company operates and makes decisions on a day-to-day basis.

On the one hand, they reduce time and errors in key processes by automating repetitive tasks that previously depended entirely on human intervention, freeing the team to focus on more strategic and high-impact activities.

At the same time, they facilitate business growth. An SME can handle more workload without the need to expand its structure, which improves work efficiency and the use of resources.

They also provide value in decision making. Thanks to continuous data analysis, these systems execute tasks and, in addition, suggest actions based on updated information.

However, their implementation requires judgment, since it is a matter of identifying where they can generate a real impact within the company.

Current limits and complications

Despite their potential, autonomous agents are not a magic solution.

One of the main challenges is integration. Many companies have fragmented systems, which makes initial implementation difficult, and there is also a cultural barrier, as some teams are wary of systems that make decisions automatically.

Another key aspect is control. Although the agents are autonomous, they must operate within well-defined boundaries and clear rules and strategic oversight must be in place.

Finally, the initial cost can be a barrier. However, it is usually offset by savings in the medium term.

How to start implementing autonomous agents

The most common mistake is to try to implement everything at once. Instead, it is most effective to start with concrete processes.

First, identify repetitive, time-consuming tasks. Then, evaluate whether they can be automated with some degree of decisiveness.

It then implements a pilot solution. This allows you to measure results without taking major risks.

Analyze critical internal processes

Prioritize automations with clear impact

Measure results and scale progressively

This approach avoids failures and helps the team to quickly get used to using the tool and it will be perceived as a support and not as a hindrance.

How Flowtask drives your usage

Each company has different processes, rhythms and needs. That’s why Flowtask avoids standard solutions and prefers to start from a real analysis of your daily activity.

From there, we identify where it makes the most sense to apply automations and where systems can assume a more autonomous role. The goal is not to add complexity; on the contrary, we seek to simplify work and improve efficiency.

In this way, the autonomous agents for companies go from being a theoretical idea to a useful tool within the business, integrated with existing systems and aligned with the team’s objectives.

Support is continuous. The process goes beyond the initial implementation, adjusting and optimizing the solution over time to ensure that it delivers real value.

Towards autonomy and efficiency

The advance of autonomous agents marks a turning point in business management.

Companies that adopt this approach strategically will have a clear advantage. They will be more agile, efficient and able to adapt to change.

However, success does not depend on the technology alone. It depends on how it is implemented and how it is integrated into the culture of the team.

That’s why the future won’t be completely autonomous. It will be a collaboration between people and intelligent systems working towards a common goal.

Trends in AI for SMEs can be very relevant in the business environment. Artificial intelligence will cease to be a tool for occasional use to become an integrated system in the daily life of many SMEs.

This does not mean that all companies will adopt AI at the same pace, but we will see a clear shift in productivity, automation and decision making. Also, access to simpler and cheaper tools is accelerating adoption. According to OECD data, more than 20% of companies already use AI and the number continues to grow rapidly.

Process automation

The automation of repetitive tasks will be the most relevant trend. This technology is not reserved for large companies, as it is within the reach of any SME, facilitating tasks such as invoice management, mailings, inventories or customer service.

In practice, AI will reduce time in administrative tasks. Helping to minimize human errors in daily processes and will be especially useful in small teams where every working hour counts.

For example, we will see systems capable of generating automatic reports or classifying customer requests without manual intervention. With these time savings, teams will be able to focus their resources on much more creative and relevant tasks.

Automation will be applied, for example, in:

Automatic generation of invoices and administrative documents

Classification and initial response to mail and requests

Real-time inventory control with intelligent alerts

Periodic reporting without manual intervention

Management of repetitive tasks in internal departments

Decision making and data analysis

Another major SMB AI trend will be the use of AI to analyze business data in real time. Many SMEs already collect information, but few are leveraging it efficiently.

AI will make it possible to interpret sales, customer behavior or campaign performance without the need for advanced technical knowledge and provide recommendations based on real patterns.

This will change the way decisions are made. Instead of reacting late, companies will be able to anticipate so AI will become a direct support for management and commercial teams.

Customer service and communication

Customer service will be another key point. Virtual assistants will evolve towards more natural and useful systems, capable of resolving complex doubts.

Many SMEs will integrate AI into channels such as email, WhatsApp or web chats. This will enable faster responses without the need to increase human resources.

However, the most important change will be the combination of automation and personalized attention. AI will manage the repetitive, while the human team will focus on more critical or strategic cases.

Marketing and sales

In marketing, they will mark a turning point in content creation and customer segmentation. The tools will be able to generate texts, images and campaigns adapted to each audience.

AI will make it possible to analyze which messages work best and adjust strategies in real time. Reducing budget waste in ineffective campaigns.

In sales, intelligent systems will help prioritize customers who are more likely to buy. This will enable sales teams to focus on real opportunities rather than cold leads.

In practice, AI will be applied in:

Content generation for social networks, emails and advertisements

Automatic segmentation of customers according to behavior

Real-time optimization of advertising campaigns

Prediction of sales opportunities with higher conversion

Personalization of commercial messages according to customer profile

How Flowtask is driving these trends

Instead of implementing generic solutions, Flowtask analyzes the internal processes of each company and, from there, designs automations and systems adapted to its workflow.

This is especially important in SMEs, where efficiency depends on the connection between departments. In addition, Flowtask makes it easy to integrate AI with existing systems, avoiding changes and complications.

The goal is to make the company work better with it. That’s why AI becomes a natural extension of the team and not a separate tool.

Integration of digital tools and ecosystems

Another trend will be the integration between multiple digital tools. Companies will move away from isolated systems to connected ecosystems.

Allowing information to flow between CRM, ERP, marketing and customer service without duplication and AI will act as a connector between all these systems.

This will be one of the most important changes, as it will reduce the segmentation common in many SMEs. As a result, management will be more efficient and with fewer errors.

Use of generative AI in everyday life

The use of generative AI will extend to the creation of documents, business proposals, emails and internal content.

This will not replace human judgment, but it will speed up previously time-consuming processes and allow small teams to produce more with the same resources.

Even so, the challenge will be to maintain quality and consistency. Therefore, companies will have to establish good practices for their use.

Evolution and real impact in the immediate future

The trends in AI for SMEs in 2026-2027 show a clear shift towards more automated, connected and efficient companies. It’s not just going to be about technology, but a new way of working.

SMEs that adopt these trends early will be able to improve productivity, reduce costs and make better decisions. Moreover, the real value will not only be in the tool itself, but in how it is integrated into the company’s daily processes.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer the future, but the present that is profoundly transforming the business fabric. From the automation of administrative tasks to data-driven decision making, AI is redefining how companies work, how they relate to their customers and how they compete in the marketplace. Preparing your company for this change is a strategic necessity to ensure competitiveness and sustainability in the medium and long term.

AI as a driver of business change

The adoption of AI is impacting all sectors: industry, distribution, services, finance and human resources. Its main value lies not only in the technology itself, but in its ability to optimize processes, reduce errors, increase productivity and free people from repetitive tasks so that they can focus on higher value-added activities.

However, many companies still perceive AI as complex, expensive and distant. This can lead to immobility, when in fact the biggest risk today is to do nothing. AI will not replace companies that do not adopt it, but those that know how to integrate it intelligently into their processes will.

1. Internal diagnosis: knowing the starting point

The first step to prepare your company is to understand where you are. Not all organizations start from the same digital level, and an honest diagnosis of the current situation is necessary:

Which processes are already digitized?

Where are the most repetitive and manual tasks concentrated?

What is the quality of the data the company works with?

What technological tools are currently being used?

This analysis makes it possible to identify the processes most likely to be optimized through AI and to prioritize the actions with the greatest impact and return on investment.

2. Data: the basis of any AI strategy

Artificial Intelligence is powered by data. Without this data being structured, accessible and reliable, any AI implementation initiative is doomed to failure. This is why preparing the enterprise for change means working decisively on data management.

It is necessary to unify information sources and establish clear criteria for data quality, security and governance. Systems such as ERP, CRM or management platforms must become the “single source of truth” on which analysis and automation models are built.

Investing in data is not just a technological issue, it involves discipline, responsibility and a strategic vision of information as a business asset.

3. People and culture: the key factor

One of the biggest mistakes when talking about AI is to focus exclusively on technology. It is essential to communicate clearly what AI is, what it is not and how it will help in day-to-day life. Training plays a key role: from managers, who must understand the strategic impact, to operational teams, who will live with intelligent tools in their daily work.

Fostering a culture of continuous learning, experimentation and improvement is essential. The companies that adapt best will be those that see AI as an ally, not a threat.

4. Identify real and concrete use cases

AI adoption must start with clear and measurable use cases. Automating for the sake of automating makes no sense. Some common areas where AI quickly brings value are:

Automation of administrative and back-office tasks.

Predictive sales and demand analysis.

Inventory and purchasing optimization.

Customer service through intelligent assistants.

Decision support with advanced data analysis.

Starting with small, well-defined and scalable projects allows for quick results, builds internal confidence and lays the groundwork for more ambitious initiatives.

5. Technology and integration: less is more

It is not a matter of implementing dozens of new tools, but of integrating AI into the existing technological ecosystem. Solutions must be adapted to real business processes, not the other way around.

The key is to bet on flexible, scalable platforms that are well integrated with current systems. In addition, it is important to have technology partners that understand the business, not just the technology, and that accompany the company in a process of continuous improvement.

6. AI as a sustainable competitive advantage

AI makes it possible to anticipate market changes, personalize customer relationships and make faster and better decisions. This is not a one-off transformation, but a continuous process. AI will evolve, and companies will have to evolve with it. Those that adopt an open mindset, based on data, people and constant improvement, will be in a privileged position to lead their industry.

Preparing your company for the impact of Artificial Intelligence is not a matter reserved for large corporations. It is a strategic decision that starts with understanding the business, taking care of the data, training people and applying AI with meaning and purpose.

Change is already underway. The question is not whether AI will transform your business, but whether you will be prepared to harness its full potential.

Artificial intelligence is experiencing a turning point. After several years of tests, pilots and first implementations, the next few years will mark its definitive consolidation. AI will cease to be perceived as an innovative technology and will become a component of the way companies operate, directly influencing productivity, decision-making and business models.

It’s not just about automating tasks, it’s about transforming the way organizations think, work and compete.

From point tool to business infrastructure

Over the past few years, many companies have used artificial intelligence in isolation: a chatbot for customer service, a data analytics system or a specific automation. From 2026, however, this approach will change radically. AI will become natively integrated into business systems, becoming a cross-cutting layer that connects processes, data and people.

ERP, CRM, human resources platforms or financial tools will incorporate intelligent capabilities capable of analyzing information in real time, detecting patterns and proposing concrete actions. This will allow companies to anticipate problems, optimize resources and respond more quickly to market needs. AI in companies will no longer be an add-on, but part of the organization.

New ways of working: intelligent people and agents

One of the most visible changes in the coming years will be the evolution of the way we work. AI will not replace the professional, but it will redefine his or her role. People will no longer focus on repetitive or administrative tasks, but will take on supervisory, analytical and decision-making functions supported by intelligent systems.

So-called AI agents will be able to execute complete workflows: gather information, analyze it, propose solutions and learn from the result. The employee’s role will be to validate, adjust and provide strategic judgment. This new model of human-machine collaboration will boost productivity, but will also require cultural and training adaptation within organizations.

Intelligent end-to-end process automation

Automation will experience a second great wave. Whereas until now, specific tasks have been automated, in the coming years, entire processes involving several departments will be automated. Sales, operations, finance or customer service will be connected through intelligent workflows that can be adapted to each situation.

This will reduce human error, shorten response times and improve operational efficiency. Companies will be able to react almost in real time to changes in demand, logistical incidents or financial variations. In this context, AI in companies will be a key lever to gain agility and competitiveness.

The impact on talent and professional skills

Far from causing a massive disappearance of jobs, AI will drive a profound transformation of talent. Many positions will evolve, with low value-added tasks disappearing and those related to data interpretation, creativity, strategy or customer relations gaining weight.

New profiles linked to artificial intelligence management, data quality, model monitoring and technological ethics will emerge. Continuous training will be essential. Companies that invest in re-skilling and up-skilling will not only take better advantage of AI, but will also retain talent and reduce internal resistance to change.

Regulation: a key factor

As artificial intelligence gains prominence in decision making, governance will become a strategic element. In the coming years, companies will need to clearly define how data is used, what decisions AI can make and how its results are monitored.

In Europe, regulation will play a decisive role. Transparent, explainable and compliant AI systems will be essential to avoid legal and reputational risks. Trust will be a key asset for customers, employees and partners alike.

Direct impact on productivity and competitiveness

The economic benefits of artificial intelligence will become increasingly evident. Companies that adopt AI in a structured way will experience significant improvements in productivity, cost reduction and process optimization. The ability to analyze large volumes of information will enable more accurate planning and better decision making.

In addition, the personalization of products and services will continue to advance thanks to advanced data analysis, companies will be able to offer experiences that are more tailored to the real needs of each customer, strengthening loyalty and added value.

New business models driven by AI

In the coming years we will see many organizations adopt an AI-first approach. This means designing products, services and processes with AI capabilities in mind from the outset. Innovation will be continuous and the speed of adaptation will make the difference between leaders and laggards.

In this scenario, AI in companies will not only optimize what already exists, but will also create new value propositions, redefine sectors and open up opportunities that we cannot even imagine today.

Artificial intelligence will mark a before and after in the business world in the coming years. It will not be a passing fad or an exclusive advantage of large corporations, but an accessible technology that will transform the way we work, decide and compete.

Companies that understand this change, invest in people, processes and governance, and adopt AI strategically will be better prepared to grow in an increasingly demanding environment. The key will not only be to incorporate technology, but to do so with vision, responsibility and business focus.

The impact of Artificial Intelligence is not only limited to the technology sector, but extends to fields such as personalized medicine, energy sustainability, climate prediction, automation of complex tasks and even international politics. Below, we explore in detail the most relevant developments of the month.

Personalization of cancer vaccines

One of the most promising developments in April has been the development of cancer vaccines using messenger RNA (mRNA) technology, powered by artificial intelligence. Following the success of this technology in COVID-19 vaccines, companies such as BioNTech and Moderna, in collaboration with healthcare systems such as the British NHS, are working to create personalized vaccines that can fight different types of cancer by adapting to the specific genetic mutations of each tumor.

AI makes it possible to analyze thousands of genomic data in a matter of minutes to identify each patient’s unique “neoantigens”. With this information, a vaccine is generated that trains the immune system to detect and eliminate cancer cells, thus reducing the chances of relapse. Clinical trials are already underway in Spain.

In addition, research centers such as the Institute for Biomedical Research and Innovation of Cadiz have started to use generative AI to automate the analysis of cell samples. This makes it possible to detect early signs of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease.

Rise of small models

In April, a more efficient alternative has gained traction: Small Language Models (SLMs).

These models are designed to run locally on personal devices such as cell phones without the need to rely on cloud data centers. Although their capacity is more limited, they can perform common tasks such as text generation, summarization, translation or basic assistance with much lower power consumption.

This development opens the door to more inclusive, accessible and sustainable artificial intelligence, especially in regions with less technological infrastructure.

Revolution in meteorology

Another notable development of the month is the launch of Aardvark, a new AI-based weather forecasting system developed by the University of Cambridge in collaboration with Microsoft Research, the Alan Turing Institute and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts.

Deep learning is used to analyze more than 80 years of physical weather data. Unlike traditional models, which require millions of data and high computational resources, this system can generate accurate predictions using only 10% of the data, which reduces operating costs significantly.

It also enables specific predictions such as weather forecasts tailored to industries such as agriculture, energy or aviation. This capability has enormous potential for natural disaster management.

AI Action Summit

The Action Summit on Artificial Intelligence, an event promoted by UNESCO and the French government, was held in Paris, bringing together representatives from 58 countries to discuss the ethical, inclusive and sustainable future of this technology.

One of the main outcomes was the signing of the Declaration on Inclusive and Sustainable Artificial Intelligence for People and Planet, in which they commit to ensure equitable access to AI, promote the transparency of algorithms and minimize the risks associated with its use, especially in sensitive contexts such as military or political.

There were important absences at this event, such as those of the United States and the United Kingdom, which generated a great deal of controversy. These countries expressed their disagreement with multilateral agreements and are seeking a more focused approach to public-private cooperation and national security.

April 2025 has been a pivotal month for artificial intelligence, with advances that not only improve technological efficiency, but promise benefits for health, the environment and global organization. From personalized vaccines and accurate weather predictions to sustainable models and autonomous agents, AI continues to shape a smarter future… yet one that is also more complex and challenging.
